Laboratory Mech Technologist - Dental Facilities Services

Responsibilities:
· Demonstrate proper equipment setup, operation, maintenance, and cleaning to users.
· Apply safe working practices, including correct lifting and bending techniques.
· Assemble, install, repair, and maintain dental and lab equipment (chairs, lights, delivery systems, etc.).
· Provide daily support and customer service to faculty, students, and patients.
· Perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
· Assist with general facility tasks (e.g., hanging shelves, moving furniture/equipment).
· Proactively identify and resolve issues to prevent recurring problems.
· Train and guide users on proper equipment usage and care.
· Maintain manuals, safety labels, and up-to-date MSDS documentation.
· Coordinate with vendors and contractors on equipment and facility needs.
· Manage inventory for tools, parts, and maintenance supplies.

Location: Dental Science Building (Iowa City, IA)
Salary: $42,699.60 (Paygrade: 10)
Hours of Work:
Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 4:30pm
May require occasional overtime.
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· Five years of directly related experience.
HIGHLY Desirable Qualifications:
· Experience in a Dental Setting; and
· Demonstrated exemplary Customer Service Skills.
Desirable:
· Experience with hydraulics and hydraulic systems;
· Advanced troubleshooting skills;
· Electronics diagnostics experience;
· A strong understanding of, and the ability to develop and perform preventive maintenance;
· Basic computer skills;
· Ability to communicate effectively;
· Ability to work in all types of environments - dirty, noisy, elevated, hot or cold; and
· Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, and blue prints.
