Laboratory Specialist
Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or closely related field with sufficient Chemistry knowledge and coursework to be able to perform the duties of the position.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a laboratory setting (academic/commercial preparatory, undergraduate research, advanced laboratory coursework experience).
- Working knowledge of SOPs and safe handling of laboratory waste.
- Working knowledge of and ability to use tools such as Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet search tools.
- Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively transmit, receive and interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication methods and behaviors with faculty, staff and students, while appreciating the unique contributions of all individuals.
- Must demonstrate careful attention to detail and accuracy, strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks quickly and effectively, proactively establish priorities and meet deadlines, and solve problems independently.
- Experience fostering a welcoming academic environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Chemistry or related field.
- Three years of laboratory experience.
- Experience writing SOPs.
- Working knowledge of academic resources and University systems (e.g., ICON, Gradescope).
