Laboratory Technician II - Core Labs - 1st Shift
The Department of Pathology is seeking two Laboratory Technician II positions to assist with the daily allocation of resources and coordination of activities to ensure a smooth operation. Performs a variety of laboratory tasks related to specimen receiving, processing, sample storage, archiving, data entry of patient information, lab orders, telephone inquiries, and related problem resolution. Responsible for maintenance of laboratory equipment and supply distribution. Provides functional supervision of shift personnel. This position is 75%-time, 1st shift, Friday-Sunday from 0700-1700.
Duties to include:
· Demonstrates functional supervision by the ability to direct the daily allocation of resources and coordination of activities.
· Ensures quality service to clients through communications with external and internal laboratories and support staff.
· Performs or directs routine preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and cleaning as assigned.
· Performs phlebotomy.
· Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Two years of related laboratory experience including one year as a Laboratory Technician I or equivalent level experience, or
- Certified Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification, or
- Any combination of related post high school education and experience which totals two years.
Desirable Qualifications:
- MLA(ASCP) certification or eligible.
- High volume public contact
- Meets CLIA 88 requirements and qualifications to perform waived testing (point of care testing).
- Experience performing waived testing, including releasing test results.
- Phlebotomy experience is highly desirable.
