The Department of Pathology is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to perform difficult technical procedures and allied duties related to the function of the cytopathology laboratory; maintains cytopathology laboratory area and equipment.  Performs a variety of cytopathology laboratory tasks related to accessioning, processing specimens, computer/clerical duties, routine lab maintenance, and supply distribution.  Employs computer skills, uses conventional office equipment; gathers quality control and quality assurance data and compiles reports. This position is 100% time, 0800-1700, Monday - Friday.  

 

Duties to include:

·        Receives, accessions, handles, and processes specimens or Anatomic Pathology.

·        Serves as client services for Pathology outreach program.

·        Returns outside material when needed.

·        Gathers and compiles data for quality assurance.

·        Coordinates office.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Two years of related laboratory experience including one year as a Laboratory Technician I or equivalent level experience, or
  • Certified Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification, or
  •  Any combination of related post high school education and experience which totals two years.

 

Special Qualifications (if appropriate):

  • Medical Terminology
  • Public contact/customer service

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • MLA(ASCP certification or eligible.
