The Learning Experience & Technology Specialist keeps the University of Iowa's learning technology running today, works to make it better tomorrow, and improves the tools and experiences that help others learn on their own over time. This role combines hands-on system administration with a focus on improving how people find, access, and engage in learning, using AI-enabled and human-centered approaches to make learning more accessible, effective, and scalable across the institution.

There is an expectation that the person in this position will maintain effective, civil, and respectful working relationships with the University of Iowa campus community and uphold the University’s commitment to creating welcoming and respectful environments for all.

What you may do in this role:

  • Design and develop learning experiences that use role plays, simulations, curated pathways, AI-enabled resources, and other approaches that help employees and leaders apply learning in their work.
  • Stay current on emerging learning technologies and AI-enabled tools; test what is relevant, share what works, and leave behind what doesn't.
  • Curate and maintain LinkedIn Learning collections and learning paths that connect platform content to university learning needs.
  • Keep MyTraining, ICON, and related learning systems running well — course setup, enrollment, reporting, troubleshooting, and day-to-day user support.
  • Consult with campus partners on learning design, course structure, learning technologies, and online learning practices.
  • Be the go-to resource for campus HR partners who need help designing, building, or deploying learning experiences — advising on approach rather than doing the work for them.
  • Track enrollments, participation, and utilization across learning platforms; turn that data into regular reports that help the team make informed decisions.
  • Ensure learning data moves accurately between systems so reporting is reliable and information does not need to be manually reconciled.
  • Support compliance course tracking and other administrative activities that keep learning programs running smoothly.
