EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A master’s or doctoral degree and experience in educational psychology, counseling psychology, counseling, counselor education, or related field is required.  Licensed or license eligible in the state of Iowa as a psychologist, mental health counselor, or mental health professional in a closely related field.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

1) Reasonable, independent experience (1-3 years) working as a mental health professional, learning specialist, academic support services provider, or in a closely related field.

2) Experience providing academic support/intervention strategies for diverse learners.

3) Demonstrated skill at building and maintaining helping relationships – counseling, academic advising, career advising.

4) Demonstrated skill at building and maintaining collaborative, collegial relationships – teamwork and leadership.

6) Evidence of a commitment to diversity and competence in working with a range of people from diverse groups.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Experience providing counseling and/or academic advisement to graduate and professional students or healthcare professionals.

2) Experience developing outreach or psycho-educational programming.

3) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are desirable.

4) Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in public speaking within a university setting is desirable.
