Iowa Health Care is looking for its next Manager of Photography and Videography to lead the development and production of visual storytelling for Iowa Health Care’s Marketing & Communications visuals team. Under this role’s leadership, the team produces photo and video content to support major enterprise news stories, support marketing and communications initiatives, and ensure that Iowa Health Care's visual storytelling enhances our brand and impact on the state.
Position Responsibilities
Creative Strategy and Direction
- Translate strategic direction and communicate goals and creative briefs into actionable project plans for the visuals team. Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Collaborate with the Digital and Multimedia Director and the Art Director to define and align visual presence with the Iowa Health Care brand.
Production & Editing
- Develop, manage, and deliver key photo or video projects and assignments according to expressed parameters, including audience, purpose, and message.
- Demonstrate a strong grasp of the full lifecycle of visual projects: pre-production planning, in-field production, post-production, and final review with internal and external clients.
- Appropriately apply complex and simple video and photo technologies and production styles, ensuring the project delivered is appropriate for the need.
- Use media content editing tools such as Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere, and Avid; publish, organize, and share video content via YouTube, social media, Ustream, and other web platforms.
- Use media content editing tools such as Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, and Illustrator to capture and edit photo content that will be shared and distributed across all platforms.
Program Management and Support
- Meet with MarCom and external stakeholders to plan projects and ensure the delivered multimedia accomplishes defined strategies.
- Assist in managing the visual budget to purchase visual equipment and engage with freelance resources to assist with production requests.
- Guide and coach the visuals team's work to ensure that it is optimized for the requested deliverable and that each team member is growing in their approach to visual artistry and technical competencies.
- Lead the visual team’s workflow, delivering on-message, on-brand, and on-target projects within scope and timeline. Balance staff workload by weighing strategic organizational priorities, project deadlines, team resources and strengths, project timelines, and internal vs. external resources available.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Cinema, Broadcasting, Journalism, or related fields (Communication Studies, Film Studies, Television Production, Media Design, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 4+ years of professional experience creating marketing communications video or photo content for an organization
- Expert proficiency in key facets of visual production, either a strong history in photography or videography.
- Experience supervising professional photographers or videographers and leading team-based projects.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Skilled at managing multiple tasks, prioritizing efficiently, and delivering content under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work occasional weekend, early morning, and night productions.
Desired
- Demonstrate a high level of proficiency with both photography and videography.
- Experience with live events, including but not limited to livestreaming and day-of news and event coverage.
- Hands-on experience (producing, shooting, and/or editing) in broadcast-level media production
