Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s level degree or equivalent experience in a field that contributes to the wellbeing and health of individuals and communities through health information. Applicable relevant degrees would include: Library and Information Science, Public Health, Health Communications, Social Work, Community Planning, Sociology, Education, Health Equity or Health Disparities focused research degree, etc. from ALA-accredited institution, or relevant advanced degree related to health literacy or health education.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in facilitating community participation in public health initiatives. Applicable experience includes environmental education & advocacy, digital literacy, citizen science, health information & health information access, or community participation in biomedical research.
  • Ability to cultivate collaborative relationships with external program partners and community members in diverse communities. Has experience in all aspects of partnership management including identifying potential partners, initiating partnership contact, aligning goals and missions, negotiation and conflict resolution, keeping in contact, and accomplishing shared and individual organizational goals with partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, team-based setting where communication, flexibility, and collaboration are essential.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote work environment.
  • Effective communication techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 6 times a year for in-person presentations, site visits, and other activities.
  • Proficiency in Zoom and Microsoft products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, including budgeting, prioritizing, implementing, and reporting
  • Accurate record keeping, reporting, adherences to program standards and requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in a workplace setting, and/or in the community.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience engaging with populations who are underrepresented in biomedical research including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC); LGBTQIA+, older adults, persons with disabilities, and rural communities.
  • Experience working with at least one of the following groups: public libraries, small and rural libraries, health science libraries, and/or national or regional library organizations, Area Health Education Centers, health department, or community-based health organizations
  • Subject area experience in health literacy, digital literacy, precision medicine, diversity in biomedical research, and/or research literacy.
  • Familiarity with Community-Based Participatory Research
  • Familiarity with the All of Us Research Program or clinical and translational science.
  • Familiarity with NLM and NNLM programs.
  • Experience in agile project management.
  • Program evaluation experience.
