COA Certified (Ophthalmic Clinical Specialist I) Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Three years of health care experience involving direct patient care including some use and maintenance of specialized medical equipment , or a combination of related education and experience.
  • COA certification through JCAHPO
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and abilities

Non-COA Certified (Ophthalmic Technician) Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Three years of health care experience involving direct patient care including some use and maintenance of specialized medical equipment with at least one year of the prior experience at the level of a Clinical Technician II or equivalent, or a combination of related education and experience.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 18 months of ophthalmic patient care
  • COA certification through JCAHPO (if not COA certified)
  • COT certification through JCAHPO (if COA certified)
