Program Assistant, Orientation Services
WHAT YOU BRING:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing a comparable level of expertise.
- Some experience (6 months, may include undergrad level work) in a program or project support role including administrative tasks, collaborating on teams, and/or managing multiple concurrent objectives.
- Demonstrates a basic proficiency in:
- Planning, mobilizing and distributing resources, preferably including training or facilitating programs.
- Knowledge of marketing options and opportunities; abilities to advertise through various channels.
- Understanding of the issues related to the decision-making process; ability to analyze and problem solve.
- Establishing and building healthy working relationships and partnerships with colleagues within and external to own unit, those to whom services are provided, vendors, the public, regulatory/governmental agencies, etc., all of whom may be seen as “customers” or receivers of services provided by the University.
- Working with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals from varied cultures, race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
Desired
- Demonstrates a basic proficiency in:
- Ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years), and strategic (3-5 years) planning support of the overall business plan.
- Knowledge of, and ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives.
- Knowledge of or proficiency in the student orientation function – introducing to campus, university policies, campus life acclimation or related.

Work Modality: Primarily on campus with remote option up to 40%, subject to training, peak periods, dept policy, and performance. (Any remote work must be performed at a location within the state of Iowa and comply with the remote work program and related policies.)
*This is a specified term appointment anticipated for one year with the possibility of extension dependent on program needs and funding.
