The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Patient Financial Services is seeking a Coding Coordinator (QA Analyst) to provide direct support, consultation, guidance, and training to users and identify technical solutions for Quality Assessment training for PFS employees.   In this role, you will support monthly quality and productivity assessments, make individual suggestions, provide education, implementation of new processes and project management in an effort to maximize user and organizational effectiveness. You will also be sought out should any special projects arise. 

Position Responsibilities: 
•    Deconstruct workflows into clear and concise training materials, learning aids and other resources to support implementation and post-training reinforcement. 
o    Assist in the identification of system and process improvements to enhance training methods, materials, and data integrity. 
•    Conduct training needs analysis; evaluate progress of employees to determine effectiveness and impact of training methods, materials, and programs.
•    Perform provider audits to include trend reporting to enhance coding and documentation opportunities. 
•    Provide one-on-one and/or group training for new PFS employees; retrain current employees when necessary. 
o    Create individualized, targeted training programs to enhance individual employee’s process and required improvements, as needed. 
•    Assist in the development of instructional strategies and appropriate integration of instructional technologies.
•    Design and produce learning materials in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and multimedia.
•    Evaluate the instructional effectiveness of the strategies and educational approaches used.
•    Develop and maintain curriculum, educational resources, and/or assessment tools.
•    Maintain strong, effective working relationships with directors, managers, staff, students and the public.
•    Participate in educational and management meetings to ensure knowledge and training programs are current with healthcare revenue cycle and changes in healthcare environment.

Salary: $48,000 to commensurate

Location: Hospital Support Services Building (HSSB) located in Coralville, IA

Position Qualifications:

Education Required
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience with health care insurance billing.

Experience Requirements
•    Current certification as RHIT, RHIA, CPC, CCS, CCSP or equivalent.
•    One or more years of medical coding experience.
•    Knowledge, understanding and experience with CMS regulations or industry standards.
•    Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
•    Medical terminology knowledge
•    Experience specific to Hospital and/or Physician billing.
•    Familiarity with all insurance payors.
•    Experience using EPIC. 
•    Knowledge with computer software applications, (i.e., Microsoft Office programs) and the ability to learn and apply new software systems knowledge quickly.  
•    Strong analytical skills to identify opportunities for operational improvement and implementing effective changes.
•    Effective verbal and written communication skills to share appropriate information and feedback in a professional, respectful, and sensitive manner with all levels of personnel. 

Desired Qualifications
•    1-3 years Revenue Cycle experience. 
•    Experience (1 year or more) creating, updating, and documenting job procedures and processes.   
•    Experience developing curriculum and educational resources. 
•    Experience providing focused training in large and small group settings.  
•    Demonstrated ability to work effectively in ambiguous and complex situations with minimal supervision.  
•    Demonstrated customer-focused and team-focused actions to meet or exceed needs and expectations; take responsibility for customer complaints when an issue may lie elsewhere.
•    Experience and knowledge of Patient Financial Services’ functions, systems, processes & policies.
