Research Assistant
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Requires the academic knowledge of a scientific discipline plus the ability to translate, adapt and apply the knowledge that is generally associated with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology, biology, chemistry, or physics or related biomedical field or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in a research laboratory environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience working in a neuroscience research laboratory
Experience with the MATLAB to analyze the data
Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
Self-motivated and driven to learn new skills and techniques
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
HIGHLY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with murine models of disease in a research setting
Experience maintaining multiple genetically-modified mouse colonies simultaneously
Experience performing rodent brain stereotaxic microinjection
Experience in preparing buffer solutions and common molecular biological reagents
Experience ordering reagents and equipment, and maintaining chemical inventory records
Experience maintaining safety and regulatory records and paperwork
Strong organizational skills and team leadership experience
Ability to work independently
