Research Assistant
Bachelor’s degree in science or humanities or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum one year experience with field research, educational development, and/or or outreach activities focused on agricultural safety and health.
Knowledge of farming and/or health and safety practices to protect workers.
Demonstrated exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, particularly strong oral communications are necessary (for podcast and audio recordings).
Ability to travel and work some evenings/weekends (for presentations, field events, and field data collection). Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license which meets compliance with the standards of The University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program.
Demonstrated ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
Desirable Qualifications
A Master’s degree (MS, MPH or equivalent) in a field related to occupational health and safety, supplemented by one or more years of progressively responsible experience in the conduct of natural or health science research or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience submitting routine IRB applications and documents, or equivalent is highly desirable.
Familiarity software is highly desirable, such as statistics packages (SAS), audio editing software (Audition), data acquisition and processing programs.
Working knowledge of ergonomic risk factors and data acquisition in occupational settings.
Experience interacting with research staff, students and the public.
Knowledge of University of Iowa Policies and Procedures.
