Research Assistant - Health and Human Physiology
Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree in human physiology, exercise physiology, kinesiology or related field.
Required Qualifications:
- One year of clinical research experience with human research participants.
- Experience measuring blood pressure.
- Experience performing 12-lead ECG lead exercise testing with V02max.
- Experience performing non-invasive vascular measurements in human participants including pulse wave velocity and carotid artery ultrasound.
- Experience recruiting research participants via email, telephone, social media and/or internet-based strategies.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment including with students, postdoctoral fellows, physicians, nurses and research staff
- Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, strong organizational skills, and accurate record keeping.
- Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends to accommodate participant schedules or to help PI meet grant deadlines.
Desired Qualifications:
- More than one year research experience with human research participants.
- Experience with some basic wet lab techniques including pipetting, centrifuging blood and aliquoting samples for -80C freezer storage.
- Experience with IRB documentation and processes
- Experience with phlebotomy or willing to learn.
- Experience with electronic medical records.
- Experience with RedCap database web-based software.
- Experience with cognitive based assessments and 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring or willing to learn these skills.
Compensation:
- Pay Level 3A
Position and Application Details:
1-year Specified Term appointment with a possibility of extending with the possibility of extending for a second-year dependent on performance and funding.
