Research Assistant - Periodontics, College of Dentistry

Responsibilities:
· Review scientific articles on the oral microbiome and metabolome; critically analyze literature to identify knowledge gaps.
· Assist with IRB submissions/modifications, recruit participants, obtain consent, and ensure adherence to study protocols and eligibility criteria.
· Schedule and monitor study visits over a 6-month period, track recruitment/enrollment, and conduct clinical periodontal exams.
· Collect oral samples, perform microbial and host DNA/RNA isolation, and maintain lab protocols.
· Enter, verify, and analyze data using tools such as Qualtrics, RedCap, and Veeva Clinical Suite; maintain the patient database and assist in data visualization.
· Contribute to abstract and manuscript preparation, present research findings at meetings.
· Maintain lab inventory, order supplies, and potentially supervise students or residents involved in the study.
Research Assistant – PRK1 (Specified Term)
College of Dentistry – Periodontics
Salary: $49,968 to commensurate (Pay Grade: 3A)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
This position is onsite outside of required travel.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in biology, public health; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
· Proficiency in Qualtrics, RedCap, and/or Veeva Clinical Suite.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary group.
· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
· Prior experience/understanding of microbial and host DNA and RNA isolation.
· Experience/Knowledge of Periodontology, Oral Health, Health Informatics.
