The Department of Pathology is seeking a Research Associate to conduct experimental pathology procedures and techniques related to Core Laboratories. This includes tasks such as data entry, laboratory support, and evaluation/enhancement of services. This position is 100%-time, 1st shift, Monday-Friday.

Duties to include:

  • Assists Core Supervisor and Pathologists in the execution of research projects.
  • Assists in presentation and publication of work.
  • Performs necropsy procedures.
  • Documents projects, procedures and protocols as well as providing training on procedures and protocols to clients.
  • Performs procedures in the field of histology and immunohistochemistry.
  • Participates in routine laboratory safety and the maintenance of lab equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and the ability to apply and translate this knowledge to biological research.
  • Experience in handling experimental animal tissues (mostly mice) is required.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal verbal communication skills are required.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including spreadsheet data using Excel is desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment is desired.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize projects to consistently meet deadlines is desired.
  • Experience with necropsy techniques is highly desired.
  • Experience in histotechnology techniques (e.g., immunohistochemistry) is highly desired.
  • Consistent attention to detail and accuracy is highly desired.
