Research Associate - Pathology, Dai Laboratory
Education Required
- Requires the academic knowledge of a scientific discipline plus the ability to translate, adapt, and apply the knowledge that is generally associated with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biological science, with advanced knowledge of cellular and molecular biology.
Experience Requirements
At least 4 years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree or at least 2 years’ experience with a Master’s degree in molecular biology experiments, including real-time quantitative-PCR, plasmid and viral-based cloning, gene expression in mammalian cells, western blot analysis of protein expression, and experience with cellular separation and detection techniques.
At least 2 years experience in the conduct of research without assistance using mouse models, including experimentation, mouse colony maintenance and genotyping for transgenes/knockout alleles.
Extensive experience in mammalian cell culture.
Experience with viral propagation/preparation.
Experience with statistical analysis using any commercial statistical software.
Experience mentoring and training other members of the laboratory.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively with co-workers within the lab environment and individuals from other research laboratories involved in collaborative research initiatives.
Excellent communication skills.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
Expertise with construction of gene-targeting plasmids and manipulation of gene expression in mammalian cells is highly desired.
Experience with stem cell culture, including embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells is highly desired.
Experience with monoclonal antibody development is highly desired.
Experience with large mammals (e.g. ferret, pig) is highly desired.
Master’s degree in a biological science with extensive knowledge of cellular and molecular biology is highly desired.
