Research Computational Facilitator

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience may also serve to meet these minimum requirements.

Required Qualifications:

·       Experience (typically one or more years) working in an Informatics and/or Research Computing environment;

·       One year working with high-performance computing systems and scientific software including experience facilitating use of national resources such as XSEDE/ACCESS;

·       Must have excellent analytical and communication skills, a strong customer service orientation;

·       Experience effectively communicating with audiences whose technical backgrounds vary widely;

·       Working knowledge of scripting and/or application development.  Possible languages may include but are not limited to; Python, Bash/Shell, or other common languages found in research applications;

·       Strong organizational skills;

·       Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines, and an eagerness to take ownership of challenging assignments;

·       Curiosity and motivation to learn and explore new technologies across a broad range of disciplines;

·       Demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment.

Desirable Qualifications:

·       Experience providing instruction on the use of technology;

·       Proven experience contributing to grant proposal development;

·       Exposure to installing software on Linux-based systems from source;

·       Experience working in a research lab;

·       Experience with automation of electronic scientific workflows;

·       Experience working with regulatory regimes such as FISMA, HIPAA, and ITAR;

·       Experience using version control tools such as Git;

·       Exposure to HPC architectures and experience developing workflows to leverage various HPC technologies, including, Graphics Accelerators and MPI.
