Research Specialist– Iowa Neuroscience Institute
Education Requirements
- Master’s degree in a science or health science field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years progressively responsible experience in the conduct of animal-based research projects, including maintaining colonies and genotyping
- Minimum basic knowledge of programming languages including Bash, Python, Matlab, and C++
- Completion of crisis prevention and intervention (CPI) training, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training, and Basic Life Support (BLS) training – offered on site after hire if not already attained.
- Ability to quickly develop positive rapport with potential study subjects of varying age, background and origin
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a science or health science field
- Experience with clinical trials or human subjects neuroscience research
- Experience with animal research and handling
- Experience using RedCap or similar data entry portals
- Experience administering standardized clinical rating scales
- Experience performing animal behavioral experiments
- Experience analyzing Visium or other spatial transcriptomic/genomic techniques
- Experience with transcranial magnetic stimulation or MRI
- Experience supervising or training others in laboratory setting
- Experience with data management
- Knowledge of neuroanatomy
- Experience managing a research team
- Experience with electrophysiological techniques
