Research Specialist, Hydrogeologist
Education Requirement
- Master’s degree in geology, engineering, water resources, or a closely related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting field data on hydrogeology, water resources and water quality.
- Ability to travel in surrounding geographic area. Requires up to 25 percent field work, and several overnights per month.
- A valid driver’s license is required and continued compliance with the standards of the University Driving Policy. (University of Iowa Operations Manual Part V, Chapter 19).
- Demonstrated proficiency and at least 2 years of experience with computer software applications and/or other geologic related databases.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others in a research environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Work experience within a geological agency at the state or federal level, or experience conducting hydrogeological, water resources and water quality research within consulting engineering environment.
- Specific familiarity/experience with groundwater and hydrologic modeling such as Visual MODFLOW, AquiferTest, R statistical software, others.
