Senior Academic Advisor
Education Required:
- A Master’s degree in a core liberal arts and sciences discipline or higher education administration, or a combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
- Typically, 2.5 years of direct experience working with undergraduate students as an academic advisor, providing guidance on major and university graduation requirements, or in a related student services or teaching role where a primary responsibility involves conducting one-on-one meetings with students to support student success and their educational journey.
- Skillfully builds effective relationships in a respectful and constructive manner, appreciating each individual's unique contributions.
- Proven track record of managing an advising caseload or related student services caseload consisting of 100 or more students for a minimum of one semester.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication, particularly in sensitive situations that may require negotiation, empathy, and diplomacy, with a focus on the educational context.
- Competency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Extensive experience in maintaining strict confidentiality, particularly concerning student records.
Desired Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or master’s degree in Biochemistry or related degree is preferred.
- Experience working as a full-time professional academic advisor for undergraduate students at a public or private college/university for a minimum of 1 year.
- Knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures are desirable.
- Experience teaching in a liberal arts and sciences core discipline, career course or college transition course.

The salary for this position is $51,500.
This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
