The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty- Radiology Department intends to hire for two position at either the Imaging Technologist classification or Senior Imaging Technologist, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. Selective candidates eligible for a sign-on bonus of $5,000. Moving allowance may be available.  Current UI employees are not eligible.

The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty department of Radiology is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist with primary duties in MRI. Perform and teach specialized MRI and research procedures utilizing complex imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during exam.

Duties Include:

  • Perform and teach specialized imaging procedures utilizing MRI imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during exam. This includes independent operation with minimal physician supervision.
  • Perform MRI procedures using a variety of complex imaging and patient monitoring equipment.
  • Has knowledge of and applies MRI safety precautions to minimize or eliminate risks to patients, personnel, and equipment.
  • Has knowledge and understanding of key Service Excellence principles for interaction with patients and staff.
  • Establish rapport with patient and provide information about how the exam is performed and what is required of the patient.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.

The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus will open in the Spring of 2025.  This 469,000 square foot facility will be home to UI Health Care’s nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient and surgical venues. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1500-1130, may include rotating weekend and holiday on call responsibilities.

Experience Requirements

  • Senior Imaging Technologist: A Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Senior Imaging Technologist: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Imaging Technologist: Requires Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required.

 Certification Requirements (Senior Imaging Technologist and Imaging Technologist)

  • Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
  • Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.

Desirable Qualifications (Senior Imaging Technologist and Imaging Technologist)

  • Recent work or clinical education experience in MRI.
  • MRI modality training.
  • MRI certification or eligible.
  • Work or clinical education experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
