The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Health care is looking for a Senior Physical Therapist to administer treatment to patients with complex physical dysfunctions, disorders and/or injuries and evaluate and interpret findings.  This position will primarily be assigned to the orthopedic outpatient setting.  

Position Responsibilities:

·     Provide quality patient care, evaluation, assessment and treatment appropriate for patients with complex or specialized needs.  Assignment will involve primarily adults in an outpatient setting.

·     Participate in the development of innovative clinical teaching activities to meet the learning needs of staff and students.

·     Perform routine and assigned administrative tasks in an efficient manner and demonstrate innovative problem solving approaches.

·     Provides divisional and departmental leadership by:

oCollaborating on special projects and assisting management as necessary.

oParticipating in clinical research and maintaining a high level of clinical productivity.

oProviding educational experiences to staff and students.

oServing as a clinical resource.

oDemonstrating the ability to set and accomplish divisional/departmental goals.

·     Identify opportunities, monitor and participate in quality/process improvement activities and recommend corrective actions for effectiveness.

·     Performs special projects and tasks as assigned.

·     Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.

Experience Requirements:

·     A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or a Bachelor’s degree in another field and a Physical Therapy Certificate is required.

·     Reasonable (2+ years) experience as a Physical Therapist with a high degree of understanding and skill in one or more areas of assigned responsibility.

·     Demonstrated clinical educational abilities.

·     Demonstrated leadership experience in a work or other professional setting.

·     Demonstrated ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team.

·     Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required

Desirable Qualifications:

·     3+ years of experience in Physical Therapy with advanced understanding and skill in providing physical therapy primarily to adults in an outpatient setting.

·     Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in evaluation and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal disorders.

·     Ability to practice in an autonomous manner

·     Demonstrated effectiveness in provision of patient care

·     Demonstrated efficiency in provision of patient care

·     Demonstrated effort to enhance one’s own knowledge, skills and abilities

·     Demonstrated program/service development or quality improvement projects
