The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Pathology is seeking to fill a Senior Physical Therapist who will administer treatment to patients with complex physical dysfunctions, disorders and/or injuries and evaluate and interpret findings.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8-4:30. Based out of HSSB, but traveling to our 7-county home health region.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide quality patient care, evaluation, assessment and treatment appropriate for patient with complex or specialized needs.
  • Participate in the development of innovative clinical teaching activities to meet the learning needs of staff and students. 

     

    Perform routine and assigned administrative tasks in an efficient manner and demonstrate innovative problem solving approaches.

     

     

    Provide divisional and departmental leadership by:

  • Collaborating on special projects and assisting management as necessary.
  •  Participating in clinical research and maintaining a high level of clinical productivity. 
  • Providing educational experiences to staff and students
  •  Serving as a clinical resource
  •  Demonstrating the ability to set and accomplish divisional/departmental goals.
  • Identify opportunities, monitor and participate in quality/process improvement activities and recommend corrective actions for effectiveness.
  • Attend and participate in personal and professional developmental programs. 
  • Perform special projects and task as assigned.
     

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Supervision is received from a Divisional Manager or other designated official.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Functional supervision is exercised over physical therapists, students, interns and support staff. 
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree Physical Therapy or a Bachelor’s degree in another field and a Physical Therapy Certificate is required. 
  • Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required. 
  • Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in Physical Therapy with a high degree of understanding and skill in one or more areas of assigned responsibility, including demonstrated clinical education abilities and leadership, is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • A Master’s degree in Physical Therapy or a Master’s degree in another field and a Physical Therapy Certificate is desirable.
