Information Technology Services at the University of Iowa is seeking a Software Licensing Specialist to provide direct support, consultation, and guidance to university colleges and departments regarding centrally managed software licensing. 

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Overseeing the acquisition, distribution, and renewal of software licenses across the university. 
  • Maintaining and updating a comprehensive inventory of all licensed software used across the university.
  • Working closely with various ITS teams to ensure efficient and effective software licensing processes, including automated workflows for purchasing and deploying software. 
  • Meeting regularly with university colleges and departments to review centrally managed software license usage and ensuring compliance with licensing agreements.

The Software Licensing Specialist will also include project management responsibilities, such as acquiring and renewing centrally managed campus software licenses, creating deployment models, and providing financial reports. 

This position is eligible for hybrid or remote work within the state of Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and additional relevant experience.
  • Experience (typically one year or more) managing enterprise licenses or closely related.
  • Proven experience in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other office software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience building PowerBI reports and a strong understanding of data visualization techniques.
  • Experience working with outside vendors.
  • Experience designing a workflow that can be automated with the assistance of technical staff.
