Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Experience (typically 1-3 years) providing comprehensive advocacy and crisis management
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and risk assessment skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to provide timely follow-up to emails, messages, meetings, and case notes
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and utilize critical thinking skills to prioritize issues/concerns
  • Must be proficient in standard office computer software applications
  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contributions of individuals
  • Models open, respectful, accepting, and supportive behaviors with team members

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Higher Education/Student Development, Counseling, or related field
  • Experience (typically 1-3 years)  working with distressed students within an educational institution; preferably in higher education setting
  • Experience using database software, preferably the Maxient system
  • Training and/or demonstrated experience in student crisis and emergency situations
  • Knowledge of University of Iowa offices, policies, and procedures or Iowa City community resources
