Education Requirement:

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience

What you need:

  • Excellent people skills and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical audiences in a diverse community.
  • Experience researching, exploring, and solving technical problems.
  • Typically, 2-4 years’ experience with Unix/Linux in a multi-user environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Some experience with common programming languages.  Examples may include Python, Perl, Ruby, Bash/Shell.
  • Experience with common IT security practices

What you might have:

  • Strong interest in continuously learning and applying new ideas to innovative services and technologies.
  • Experience with compliance regimes such as: HIPAA, NIST, FISMA, etc.
  • Experience supporting technology in a higher education setting.
  • Experience supporting scientific research
  • Experience with configuration management and automation tools. Examples may include Puppet, SCCM, Chef, Ansible, Jenkins, etc.
  • Some exposure in any setting with virtualization.
  • Experience troubleshooting PC hardware.
  • Experience and or knowledge of supporting filesystems or network storage
  • Some exposure to data collaboration tools, such as Globus.
