Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, English, journalism or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in marketing, public relations, or similar role.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic marketing planning.
- Demonstrated experience in event planning.
- Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated by the ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain working relationships.
- Ability to remain adaptable and composed while managing shifting deadlines and travel requirements.
- Solutions-oriented with the ability to produce high-quality work with effective time management under deadline while remaining positive.
- Demonstrated ability with social media platforms and marketing tools.
- Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks and manage several projects simultaneously in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member to accomplish goals.
- Working knowledge and ability to use tools such as Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet search tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated by the ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication methods.
- Demonstrated keen attention to detail and accuracy, with strong organizational skills
- Establish priorities, meet deadlines, and solve problems independently and creatively.
- Ability to travel occasionally, including weekends, as needed to SIM-IA trainings, regional meetings, conferences, etc.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull 40 pounds occasionally and frequent 15-pound lift/push/pull in related tasks. Use of assistive equipment to move heavy materials.
- Valid Driver’s License and the ability to meet and maintain University Fleet Safety Standards.
Desired Qualifications:
- Project management experience.
- Related experience in web strategy and/or web content management.
- Experience in healthcare or educational marketing.
- Working knowledge of Asana project management system.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and email marketing platforms.
- Knowledge of graphic design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite).
- Knowledge of the University of Iowa policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Experience with AP style.
- Prior experience working in an academic or higher education environment.
