The University of Iowa Center for Intellectual Freedom is seeking to hire a 100% full-time Administrative Services Professional. This position is a 3- year specified term role.

We're seeking a dynamic Administrative Services Manager to help build a bold new academic initiative focused on the ideas and institutions that shape free societies.   • Lead and coordinate highly visible institutional level small- and large-scale events.
  • Support short- and long-term academic strategic initiatives within the Center for Intellectual Freedom.
  • Draft, edit, and finalize communications on behalf of the Interim Director of the Center for Intellectual Freedom to internal and external audiences on a variety of topics.  This includes information for correspondence, website content, faculty and student communications, and external stakeholder communications including to alumni and patrons supporting the Center and its programs.
  • Implement cross-functional initiatives aligned with the Center’s strategic goals, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and measurable impact.

About the Department: The Center for Intellectual Freedom (CIF) is an established independent academic center under the Board of Regents. The Center will conduct teaching and research in the historical ideas, traditions, and texts that have shaped the American constitutional order and society. The Center shall provide scholarship in all of the following subjects:

  • The texts and major debates that form the intellectual foundation of free societies, especially that of the United States.
  • The principles, ideals, and institutions of the American constitutional order.
  • The foundations of responsible leadership and informed citizenship.

Required Qualifications:

  • bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience or expertise.
  • 3-5 years of experience in administrative or program management

 

Competencies Required:

  • Demonstrates an extensive proficiency level in:
    • Knowledge of and ability to utilize tools, techniques, and processes for gathering and reporting data, including both qualitative and quantitative techniques.
    • Understanding of effective verbal and written communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs.
    • Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques; ability to present information to groups with the appropriate formality.
    • Knowledge of effective strategies and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
    • Knowledge of and experience with tools and techniques for planning, organizing and controlling projects and work independently as well as cooperatively with others.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with higher education systems and processes.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks quickly and effectively, proactively establish priorities and meet deadlines, and solve problems independently and creatively.

Work Modality: This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

Compensation: Starting salary minimum $75,000 with Competitive Benefits
