Application Developer – DSHB Department of Biology
The Developmental Studies Hybridoma Bank (DSHB) is seeking a DSHB Software Application Developer.
The Software Application Developer will lead the development of custom scientific, e-commerce, and database infrastructure to improve global access to validated antibodies, automate internal workflows, and support the long-term scalability of information technology for the DSHB (Developmental Studies Hybridoma Bank).
This role involves working with multidisciplinary teams including scientific and business staff as well as external stakeholders to develop solutions that enhance DSHB’s service to the biomedical research community.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult with users to define functional/technical specifications for limited scope solutions.
- Analyze functional and technical requirements for improvements to DSHB’s public-facing website and internal content systems, including online digital forms and portals (ordering and depositing).
- Collaborate across teams to build and maintain a searchable antibody validation knowledgebase and integrate with other open-access digital tools.
- Structure and curate knowledge assets (protocols, SOPs, customer support interactions) to facilitate AI tool development.

Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to communicate effectively with technical/non-technical staff.
- Experience with modern program development languages and tools, and Object-Oriented programming frameworks.
- Prior experience with HTML and JavaScript.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet and maintain University Driving Policy standards.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience with NetSuite or other ERP systems. Prior programming in SuiteScript also desirable.
- Previous experience in a scientific research environment and development of web applications in support of scientific databases and platforms.
- Previous experience in working on open science, transparency in data sharing, and accessibility in research tools.
