Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in ASL Interpretation or a Liberal Arts discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a certified interpreter.
  • Ability to provide competent signed interpreting services in a variety of operational contexts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft computer software applications and have the ability to adapt to technology systems established on campus.
  • Must hold the National Interpreter Certification (NIC), Certification of Interpretation (CI) or Certification of Transliteration (CT) offered by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or a permanent License by the Iowa Department of Public Health as a Sign Language Interpreter/Transliterator throughout the duration of employment.

Highly Desirable Qualification:

  • Minimum of 2 years professional experience as a certified interpreter presenting in a variety of settings such as post-secondary educational environment, employee appointment, events, and other activities.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment.
  • Minimum of 1-year administrative experience in an academic environment.
