Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and related experience may also serve to meet these minimum requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to routinely move and transport computer and audiovisual equipment up to 50 pounds. 
  • Driver's License and ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety requirements (see website for info) https://uiowa.edu/riskmanagement/vehicle-use.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with hand and power tools in completing light construction projects (attaching wires to structures, mounting equipment, etc).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic troubleshooting\configuration of electronics, computers, and audiovisual systems. 
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills including the ability to markup project documents, write and deliver clear instructions, and create work summaries. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work both individually and as part of a project team.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with construction documents and blueprints. 
  • Experience in terminating and testing Category 5e, 6, and 6a cables or other low-voltage cable systems (coaxial, audio/visual cable, etc).
  • Experience installing audio-visual components (mounting projectors and screens, installing LCD/LED screens, AV rack wiring, installing speakers).
  • Experience troubleshooting A/V systems.
  • Proficiency with basic construction techniques. 
  • Familiarity with Extron, Crestron, or similar audiovisual equipment systems.
