The University of Iowa is seeking a CAMBUS and Fleet Services Maintenance Manager. This position oversees all preventive and corrective maintenance activities and programs for the CAMBUS transit system and University Fleet Services, including for vehicles and equipment. It provides supervision and directs the work of maintenance staff to support vehicle maintenance programs, as well as coordinates facility maintenance in collaboration with other university staff and departments. This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.

Duties to Include:

  • Oversee the procurement, servicing, and inventory of maintenance supplies, parts, and equipment, working within established budgets and university purchasing guidelines.
  • Hold maintenance staff accountable for meeting maintenance program goals and objectives and ensuring that all maintenance activities meet quality and safety standards.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update preventive and corrective maintenance programs in accordance with federal, state, local and university policies.
  • Collaborate with university purchasing staff on vendor selections, agreements, and renewals, providing technical input as needed.

Location: Parking and Transportation – CAMBUS Maintenance Facility\
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Salary: $65,000 to commensurate

Required Qualifications:

  •  A bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience (typically 3 years) providing supervision of direct reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in the transit or automotive industry such as vehicle repair, auto body repair, maintenance shop support, or rental vehicle industry.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technicians, department leadership, and other agency personnel through written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Special Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain UI Driving Policy standards.
  • Possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

     

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education environment and knowledge of University polices and procedures.
  • Experience in public transportation maintenance under Federal Transit Administration authority.
  • ASE or manufacture certification(s).
