Position Qualifications:

Education Required

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or a combination of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and relevant clinical experience with either cardiac or thoracic surgical patients.

Required Qualifications

  • Current valid Iowa Registered Nurse license.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.   Proven interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to fluctuate occasionally working nights and weekends to enroll admission patients and/or monitor study patients as sometimes required by the enrollment protocol of the study.
  • Experience with Microsoft office software including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and procedures as set forth by the IRB and sponsoring agencies.

Highly Desirable Qualifications

  • 1-3 years’ experience and participation in clinical trials.
  • Previous rexperience with the clinical care of thoracic surgical patients.
  • Experience in clinical trial management including IRB protocols.
  • Experience with research subject recruitment.
  • Experience working on multiple projects at a given time with some level of independent decision making and responsibility.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with database programs including RedCap and Endnote.
  • Experience using EPIC for medical chart review and linking subjects to a research study.
  • Knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures, IT services and standards.
