Required Qualifications: 

  • A Master’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or an equivalent combination of a related discipline and work experience is required. 

  • At least 2 years of demonstrated experience in the areas of molecular biology and/or genomics involving instrumentation and experimental protocols used for genomics research. 

  • Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting working with modern sequencing instrumentation. 

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new genomic technologies and experimental procedures, and to use novel genomic instrumentation. 

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with a variety of people on a consistent basis including faculty, staff, and graduate and undergraduate students. 

  • Job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment. 

 

Desirable Qualifications: 

  • Direct (hands-on) experience in a laboratory setting working with digital droplet (dd)-ddPCR, real-time (RT)-PCR, and DNA/RNA quality-control instruments. 

  • Experience with DNA/RNA library preparation, and sequencing data management and analysis (Linux scripting, data acquisition and storage, transcriptomics, de novo genome annotation, DNA base calling, etc.).
