Under general supervision, the Custodian II will:

  • Perform front-line custodial duties
  • Assign, review and inspect custodial activities in the area of assignment
  • Direct and inspect daily work in the absence of supervisors
  • Provide a high level of communication with supervisor and managers
  • Confer with supervisor to complete work orders
  • Project work in accordance with general established guidelines.  
The Custodian II will also maintain inventory of custodial supplies and prepare records and reports as directed.


The schedule for this position is 7:15AM to 4:00PM, working every third weekend.  May also work occasional overtime to cover absences and peak period of operation.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
  • Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
  • One year of custodial or related experience.
Special Qualifications:
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Driving Record Review Standards.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Six months’ experience working as a laborer.
  • Experience performing labor-intensive work in a residence hall, apartment complex, hotel, hospital, nursing home, or similar residential facility.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Interest in and the ability to learn basic computer and keyboarding skills; including the ability to access and draft email correspondence and the ability to manage electronic time accruals and personal absence requests.  Previous experience highly desired.
  • Experience working in a diverse work environment.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments.
  • Ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
