Director - Data, Analytics, and Insights - University of Iowa

Education Requirement: 
A Bachelor’s degree. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may also serve to meet these minimum requirements.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

• Technology experience (typically 10+ years) including management education or experience.
• Experience defining institutional data and analytics vision, strategies, and roadmaps to enable advances in a data-driven culture.
• Experience and demonstrated knowledge of modern data ecosystems
• Experience managing, mentoring, and leading a diverse team of high-performing data professionals
• Experience in developing and implementing frameworks, policies, and processes required to enable successful implementation and adoption of a data-driven culture
• Deep understanding of SQL, data modeling, relational databases, data warehouse principles and data integration concepts
• A foundational understanding of data management principles and operational support of enterprise data
• Proven intellectual curiosity, creativity, agility, initiative, and professional judgment
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, including communication, collaboration, teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse environment
   

Desired Qualifications and Competencies:

• Strong understanding of data visualization and BI development tools (e.g., SSRS, Power BI, or Tableau) and ETL tools.
• Familiarity with Higher Education and associated administrative/academic processes and data, as well as the supporting technologies in a higher education setting.
• Well-versed in data governance practices, processes, and implementation
• Experience with cloud databases and analytics tools
• Experience evaluating new and emerging technologies and their potential applications at an enterprise level.
