POSITION SUMMARY:

The Financial Analyst plays a role in supporting the financial health and operational efficiency of clinical operations. This position will partner with departmental leadership to provide data-driven insights, financial modeling, and performance analysis that inform strategic decision-making.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND SPECIFIC JOB TASKS:

Financial Oversight and Budgeting:

  • May conduct variance analyses which will be used to make recommendations based on financial performance.

Financial and Data Management and Analysis: 

  • Gather, aggregate, and analyze financial and operational data from multiple sources.
  • Develop and maintain reports on clinical productivity, revenue trends, and key performance indicators.
  • Prepare financial and clinical data sets for leadership meetings to inform strategic and operational decisions aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Analyze financial and operational data to help inform process improvement.
  • Provide support for specific divisional projects as assigned.

Compliance with Policies, Regulations and Laws and Operation Oversight:

  • Use financial and operational data to ensure compliance with institutional policies, external regulations, and reporting standards

Transaction Processing:

  • Prepare reports utilizing financial data to assist in developing operational recommendations.
  • Transaction processing is minimal but may result from analytical work.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 2 years’ experience working with analysis of complex data sets including collection and design.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to exercise discretion in matters of confidential and sensitive nature.
  • Excellent problem-solving, customer service and conflict resolution skills as demonstrated by the ability to work effectively with individuals and/or teams.
  • Must possess strong organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a hospital and/or academic medical setting.
  • Reasonable knowledge of University of Iowa policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Experience working with Power BI.
