As a member of the Division of Student Life Human Resources Team, the HR Coordinator will be responsible for executing a range of HR responsibilities from a collaborative, customer-service-oriented perspective.  Working closely with all departments, the position provides recruitment services for openings within the Division of Student Life. The primary responsibility includes managing the full recruitment lifecycle, including but not limited to reviewing job descriptions to create job postings, executing job advertising, screening applicant submissions, providing phone screening/interviewing services, participating in interviews as needed, processing job offers, and facilitating background checks. Maintains focus on delivering excellent customer service and ensuring an outstanding candidate experience throughout execution of recruitment and pre-onboarding processes.

Please Note: The DSL Human Resources team is anticipating hiring two candidates for the role. 

Specific Job Duties and Tasks

  • Creates, publishes, advertises, and maintains search requisition information in the applicant tracking system.
  • Provide an efficient and high-touch experience for every candidate from the application stage to offer, evaluating skill level, driving the interview process and offer process, including background checks and dispositioning of candidates.
  • Communicate effectively with the interview team to ensure preparedness during the interview process. Share and exchange information with all levels of management. 
  • Manages the scheduling and candidate arrangements for all searches in the Division of Student Life; calendaring, travel, dining arrangements, expense processing, etc. 
  • Participates and supervises staff in the development and maintenance of the Division intranet. 
  • Develop and maintain internal/external relationships related to the recruitment process, which may include hiring managers, human resource professionals, industry contacts, candidates, etc.
  • Partner with HR Unit Representatives and hiring managers to assess talent requirements and advise on hiring strategies.
  • Assure compliance with all federal and state regulations throughout the recruitment and hiring process.
  • Assist with recommendations on new and enhanced policies and practices.
  • Assist in preparing and delivering needed metrics on recruitment performance and activity for stakeholders. 

Hybrid within Iowa: This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirement

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the position; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Required Qualifications 

  • Human resources experience (typically 1-3 years) performing administrative functions such as recruitment, onboarding, using HR information systems, etc. either in an HR role or HR environment.
  • Commitment to and alignment with the values of the Division of Student Life, including demonstrated active commitment to creating and maintaining a welcoming and respectful environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and to meet or exceed customer service needs.
  • Basic proficiency in the use of typical office software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office) and HR systems.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with recruitment and onboarding (typically 1-3 years).
  • Working experience with talent management systems and/or applicant tracking systems.
  • Ability to apply state and federal regulations affecting human resources.
