Position Summary:

Iowa Health Care department of Health Care Information Systems is seeking an IT Support Consultant. The position will provide enterprise scope of AV implementation and operational support of Audio Video (AV) systems and related technologies. Coordination with multiple departments- U of I D&C/ Capital Management, AV contractors, Construction Trades during project implementation and provide daily support of installed systems. AV systems will include Conference and Meeting rooms, Event Spaces, Interactive Patient Care System, Digital Signage System, Video Observation/ Education Systems, Cable TV / IPTV delivery, Centralized Clock system, Audio systems and other supported AV systems. This position will assist the AV Design Architect with all phases of project completion including gathering stakeholder requirements, scope of work, design documents, programming, commissioning, and punch lists.

 ***This is not an IT desktop position

Position Responsibilities:

  •        Assist with rollout of standardized equipment packages to main campus and offsite locations.
  •        Installs, tunes, and applies maintenance releases to supported hardware and applications of moderate complexity to improve or attain satisfactory performance.
  •        Deployment of AV supported systems, coordination of AV contractors, and maintenance of supported systems.
  •        Performs advanced analysis and problem resolution with device hardware, software, and connectivity.
  •        Develops detailed work plans and project schedules.
  •        Works with vendor specific troubleshooting resources, facilities, and services
  •        Evaluates new AV hardware and applications for possible inclusion in set of supported products.
  •        Provides input to management for unit staff technical education and other support activities, as required.
  •        Works with other unit staff in developing and implementing project plans.
  •        Takes self-study and vendor sponsored classes pertaining to technical systems software and hardware, as needed.
  •        Able to give end user AV related training in 1 on 1 or small groups.
  •        Develops, documents, and implements backup and recovery procedures for supported AV systems in accordance with unit needs.
  •        Assists in monitoring or analysis of performance data.
  •        Daily work documentation in electronic ticketing system.
  •        Assist with the implementation of approved projects, providing project support and services.
  •        May manage small projects or one or more phases of larger projects.
  •        Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation, as required, to resolve routine and/or complex problems as they arise.

Salary: $49,511.00 to commensurate – 4A

Education Required

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or and audio/video related field; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Experience Requirements

  • Experience, typically -1-3 years, in application and/or technology support
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a strong customer service focus.
  • Familiarity with web-based video conferencing applications and tools
  • Understanding of AV installation, equipment setup and operation
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical AV issues.
  • Physical ability to occasionally move and transport equipment up to 50lbs.
  • Experience planning, organizing, and executing projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with a  variety of technical and non-technical staff.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge troubleshooting and resolving issues with AV control systems.
  • Experience with wired, wireless networking and security.
  • Certifications: Infocomm CTS, Infocomm CTS-I or other industry certifications
  • Experience with Visio, AutoCad, Blue Beam or similar design software applications.
  • Experience working in a Service Call Center with an electronic ticketing system.
  • Knowledge of Construction Project management; understanding of construction drawings, documentation, and change order processes, specifically relating to Division 27.
  • Experience in a healthcare or health industry environment.
  • Experience with Crestron, QSC, Extron, or similar AV equipment.
