University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Learning & Organizational Development Specialist to support individual and organizational development initiatives across UI Health Care. This role focuses on training design and delivery, program coordination, digital content creation, and internal communications in support of managers, supervisors, HR partners, and employees.

This position is eligible for a combination of remote work and in-person (hybrid) work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

Program Development & Administration

  • Coordinate and administer learning and development programs, including updating materials, managing registration, securing locations (virtual and in-person), and supporting participant experience.

  • Create, implement, and deliver training programs aligned with UI Health Care policies, processes, and leadership development priorities.

  • Support and enhance New Employee Orientation programming.

  • Define learning objectives and collaborate with subject matter experts to design and deliver customized training content.

  • Select and apply appropriate instructional strategies (in-person, virtual, hybrid, asynchronous).

  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness; analyze feedback and recommend improvements.

  • Maintain accurate program records, participant data, and course documentation.

  • Research and assist in the development of new training initiatives aligned with organizational goals.

Digital Content & Learning Materials Development

  • Design and maintain course materials, participant guides, facilitator guides, and visual assets using platforms such as Canva and Microsoft Office.

  • Create and manage course descriptions, course files, and learning assets within the University’s Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Develop and maintain internal and external-facing web pages related to learning and development programs.

  • Ensure digital content is accurate, accessible, visually aligned with brand standards, and updated regularly.

  • Provide technical support related to online course access, registration, and tracking.

Communication & Reporting

  • Draft and edit reports, marketing materials, emails, web content, and other communications to promote learning initiatives.

  • Track participation and program metrics; prepare summary reports for leadership.

  • Maintain organized documentation and course records.

Consultation & Support

  • Support managers and HR partners with learning resources and development-related processes.

  • Facilitate discussions, focus groups, or workshops as appropriate to support organizational initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Communications, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 1–3 years of experience in learning and development, training coordination, instructional design, event planning, or related professional experience (internships and student roles may be considered).

  • Experience supporting or delivering training programs.

  • Experience creating professional materials and learning assets using platforms such as Canva and Microsoft Office.

  • Experience maintaining or updating web content or digital platforms.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts and stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working within a university or health care environment.

  • Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to manage course registration and tracking.

  • Experience analyzing program feedback and evaluation data.

  • Experience supporting event planning and facilitation.
