University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Learning & Organizational Development Specialist to Enhance UI Health Care by providing professional human resource services primarily focused on training, coordination, development and delivery, supporting individual and organizational development for managers, supervisors, HR generalists and other UI Health Care employees.

This position is eligible for a combination of remote work and in-person (hybrid) work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

Position Responsibilities

Program Development, Delivery and Administration

  • Plan and deliver employee development programming with diverse staff members using innovative strategies, tailored content, and interactive facilitation techniques to create engaging learning environments.
  • Create, implement and deliver training and development opportunities pertaining to UI Health Care programs, policies and processes for the purpose of participant professional knowledge and skill development.
  • Support the administration of training programs by coordinating, reviewing and updating programs; designing application materials, course materials, evaluation forms; overseeing registration of programs/services; securing a location; supervising participant activities, etc.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, evaluate, and recommend enhancements to New Hire Orientation.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize various methods to deliver learning solutions for desired program outcomes.
  • Define key learning objectives for programs and program elements.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create content and adjust delivery.
  • Select suitable delivery methods for achievement of learning and organizational outcomes.
  • Implement adjustments to training in light of feedback from participants, program leaders, and sponsors.
  • Document and report problems that arise during program sessions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training and determine changes needed to ensure proper understanding and/or skill development; maintain and analyze relevant data.
  • Research, recommend, develop and implement new training programs and services that support HR goals as part of a team.
  • Create and edit reports, emails and other content for distribution.

Advise/Consult

  • Advise managers, supervisors, HR staff and employees on procedural and/or process issues within the areas of supervision, University and HR practices, and performance management.
  • Utilize strategies to support individual and organizational change: facilitated discussions, leadership development, group development, focus groups and group process facilitation.
  • Consult and support UI Health Care units developing their own courses for deployment and tracking, using University LMS.

Develop Instructional Materials

  • Develop, design, create, and implement coursework as well as provides technical support and troubleshoots issues with online access, registration, and tracking.
  • Recommend procedure and workflow modifications to use available technology most effectively. Look for ways to continuously improve learning strategies for existing programming. Responsible for review and revision of existing courses.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Demonstrates experience (one year minimum) and a working knowledge of Organizational Learning and Development: processes, issues and considerations
  • Experience (one year minimum) creating, implementing, and assessing training
  • Experience working with subject matter experts designing custom training content
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to deliver learner-centered training courses and presentations
  • Excellent written and verbal skills as evidenced by a working experience in communication and relationship building skills that support working with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner
  • Demonstrates working experience in producing documents that are clear and well-presented and adapt writing to different audiences and uses various techniques to disseminate and gather information
  • Demonstrates proficiency working experience with Microsoft Office products

Desirable Qualifications

  • Demonstrates working experience in the application of University policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrates working experience in the use of data gathering tools and techniques, as well as preparing data for utilization by departments, units or individuals.
