MS SQL Server Database Administrator
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
Required Qualifications:
• Experience (typically 3-5 years) working with enterprise scale databases and or related technology environments
• Extensive experience with core database administration tasks including: backup, recovery, performance tuning, integrity, consistency, monitoring, and security
• Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise scale production MS SQL Server databases and environments
• Experience with current MS SQL databases and current Windows operating systems
• Experience with scripting languages and tools used for database queries and administrative tasks (e.g. T-SQL, PowerShell, SSMS, SQL Operations Studio, etc.)
• Ability to apply critical thinking, technical problem solving, and analyzing system specifications
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and customer relations skills
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience with SQL Server high-availability, disaster recovery, and scalability technologies (e.g. Always On Availability Groups, Windows Failover Clustering, log shipping, database mirroring, transactional replication, etc.)
• Working knowledge and experience with application development (e.g. .Net, Java, etc.)
• Experience with the administration or development of BI solutions, particularly in the Microsoft Data Platform environment (e.g. SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, etc.)
• Experience with cloud database platforms
• Experience evaluating new and emerging technologies and their potential applications at an enterprise level
• Strong organizational and personal project management skills
• Familiarity with Higher Education and associated administrative / academic processes
