Patient Transporter & Night Shuttle Driver - 70%
University of Iowa Health Care department of Guest Services is seeking a Patient Transporter & Night Shuttle Driver. This position will be 70% with a primary schedule of Monday-Friday 3:50p.m. to 9:30p.m. Under general supervision, meets, greets, assists, and transports patients and visitors to and from various locations within UI Health Care. Utilize various modes of transportation including wheelchairs, patient beds, and carts. Collect and deliver wheelchairs in assigned areas. Safely and professionally transport UI Health Care staff to designated parking lots via the Night Shuttle Service.
Position Responsibilities:
Welcomes and acknowledges all guests according to appropriate standards.
Maintain a professional attitude toward patients, visitors, and hospital staff members at all times.
Provides inter-clinic and intra-hospital patient transport.
Anticipates and addresses guests’ service needs; demonstrates superior customer service skills by identifying, fulfilling and exceeding the needs of guests. Recognizes and fulfills service recovery opportunities.
Displays excellent interpersonal communication skills; demonstrates enthusiasm and is self-motivated.
May assist with the transfer and lifting of patients using lifting equipment.
Demonstrates sympathetic and compassionate personality with overall positive attitude.
Exhibits commitment to learning and sharing information about services and general knowledge of clinic/unit locations.
Complies with patient confidentiality policies.
Adaptable to changes in scheduled hours.
Maintains a neat, clean and professional appearance at all times.
Functions well within a team and independently.
Partners with and assists others to promote an environment of teamwork and achievement of common goals and embraces his/her role as care partner in the successful delivery of customer service.
Follow all safety guidelines detailed in the BE GOLD compliance, and all Iowa DOT rules and regulations.
Drive a passenger van for several hours at a time, providing Night Shuttle Service for UI Health Care staff to designated staff parking lots.
Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Additional Info: This position has a blood-borne pathogen exposure risk. Must be able to regularly move heavy weight of 100 lbs, and occasionally in excess of 250 lbs via wheelchair or bed. Must be able to remain in a stationary position and move for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in inclement weather. Must be able to move for long periods of time.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
Special Qualification Requirements
Possession of a valid driver’s license and meet University’s Fleet Safety Program. University Driving Policy.

Excellent customer service skills; experience working with the general public in a service environment.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills; experience working with internal and external customers.
Ability to use a mobile phone and other electronic devices.
Ability to understand basic floor plan of UI Health Care.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to safely drive all types of vehicles.
Ability to exceed customer expectations.
Ability to move across long distances and remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
Ability to perform duties indoors and outdoors
