Senior Financial Analyst
The University of Iowa, Controller’s Office – Accounting and Financial Reporting is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst. This position will perform a broad range of accounting and financial analysis responsibilities to assure effective and compliant organizational/department/unit operations. It will provide accurate and timely accounting information that is used to develop reports, conduct financial analysis and planning and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations.
This position is eligible for remote work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
Duties to Include:
- Assist with monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports
- Prepare reports for and analyze non-endowment investments, investments of bond funds, financial statements, audit support, general ledger account maintenance, and other related tasks as assigned.
- Assist in the year-end closing of accounts and preparation of consolidated University of Iowa audited financial report.
- Develop financial reports from lead sheets and other sources to complete audit schedules, financial report footnotes and management discussion and analysis.
- Conduct variance analysis of financial information.
Location: Jessup Hall (JH)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Typically three years accounting and/or financial analysis experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of accounting system software and functionality
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
- Advanced query and report development experience utilizing Microsoft Access
- Experience with GASB or FASB Standards
- Extensive experience in university accounting and financial reporting
- Knowledge of/experience with financial cost accounting
