The Systems Analyst works as part of the Engineering Computer Services team to design, install, configure, administer, and secure computer systems in the College of Engineering in support of teaching, research, and outreach.  

This position is not eligible for permanent residency sponsorship. 

Specific Job Duties and Tasks

  • Analyze and resolve computer system hardware and software problems. 
  • Gather systems requirements for administrative tasks.
  • Perform routine system and application maintenance on new and existing computer hardware. 
  • Support Linux/Mac/Windows workstations.
  • Document administrative procedures and policies.
  • Document all original programming and scripting.
  • Troubleshoot assigned applications and services in partnership with the Engineering Computer Services team.  
  • Take responsibility of Help Desk tickets as appropriate.
  • Provide quality end user support. 
  • Engages with customers to understand their computing needs. 
  • Participate in process improvement for assigned functions. 
  • Participate in campus IT communities.

Education Requirement

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience. 

Required Qualifications

  • Experience of minimum of 1 year researching, exploring, and solving technical problems.
  • Ability to read technical documentation with comprehension.
  • US Citizenship or permanent resident status is required for ITAR and NIST CUI 800-171 systems. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment.
  • Ability to move servers and other similar equipment (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Experience working with one or more of the following: Linux/Mac/Windows.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with one or more scripting or programming languages.
  • Strong interest in continuously learning and applying new ideas to innovative services and technologies.
