The University of Iowa, Accounts Payable Department is seeking a 1-year Specified Term Vendor Authentication Administrator to support various vendor onboarding and management duties with emphasis on thorough analysis of new vendor requests to ensure vendors are legitimate companies and mitigate potentially fraudulent activity. An essential aspect of this position will involve reviewing ACH banking change requests, Admin eSupplier account access, analyzing complex vendor mergers and assisting with vendor bankruptcy processes all of which require the ability to identify and correct inaccuracies or misrepresentations of information to identify potential fraud. This position will also provide support for 1099 processes, virtual payment verifications and failed payment reviews. This position will be viewed as a lead role and will be required to have a confident understanding of the overall processes and procedures of the Vendor Team processes to be able to assist in all processes on an as needed basis.   This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and will perform a high volume of interaction with internal and external customers. This position will assist in analyze and update vendor file information to prevent and remove duplicate records and addresses. This position will be available to assist in a backup capacity to support the Vendor Team in daily processes, completion of reports, analysis of documentation for fraud and other tasks as assigned. This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.

 

This position is performed fully on campus.

 

Duties Include:

  • Manage assessment of risk analysis for vendors that are new to the University to ensure legitimacy. 
  • Manage vendor record updates associated with merger acquisitions
  • Maintain and develop new reporting to monitor and thoroughly assess the legitimacy of new vendors.
  • Efficiently and accurately process daily purchasing and payment transactions associated with new vendor requests and vendor mergers and acquisitions.

 

Location: PCO

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Salary: $41,541 to commensurate

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience (typically 6 months) in Accounting, Vendor Management, and/or fraud analysis.
  • Must be proficient in computer software applications such as Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational and analytical/statistical skills with the ability to meet deadlines and multitask.
  • Excellent project management skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of automated accounting systems.
  • Extensive experience in managing vendor information and conducting thorough analyses to assess validity and identify potential indicators of fraud.
  • Familiarity with University systems such as PeopleSoft, APPO, ePro and ProTrav.
  • Knowledge of University business processes and procedures.
