A/V Engineer

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience may also serve to meet these minimum requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Professional audiovisual or low voltage communications installation experience (typically 2-3 years) using varied installation methods and technologies including but not limited to cable pulling, cable termination, mounting, wire and rack management, and control configuration and testing.
• Ability to routinely move and transport computer and audiovisual equipment up to 50 pounds. Ability to position self to work in low or high areas. 
• Driver's License and ability to meet the University of Iowa’s Fleet Safety Requirements https://opsmanual.uiowa.edu/administrative-financial-and-facilities-policies/risk-management-insurance-and-loss-prevention-5 
• Working knowledge of standard practices for A/V and low-voltage system installation and cable labeling. 
• Experience troubleshooting audiovisual systems and/or communications systems.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interpret and markup project documents, write and deliver clear instructions, and create work summaries.
• Experience in terminating and testing Category 5e, 6, and 6a cables and other low-voltage systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work both individually and as part of a coordinated project team.
• Working knowledge of the latest trends in videoconferencing hardware, software, and other audiovisual technology.

Desired Qualifications:

• Certifications such as AVIXA CTS, or CTS-I, CEDIA or from audiovisual vendors such as Crestron, Extron or Biamp. 
• Working familiarity with CSI Division 27 standards for construction specifications. 
• Experience configuring basic audiovisual control systems, DSPs or camera control systems.
