EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 

  • Typically 5-7 years of experience supporting and managing related information technologies
  • Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within given time frames.
  • A passion for and in-depth knowledge of academic research and research computing environments, including working knowledge of high-performance computing, research storage, high performance networking, research applications, and collaboration tools.  Must have strong proficiencies in at least one of these areas.
  • Must have excellent analytical and communication skills, a strong customer service orientation and enthusiasm for the application of new technologies across a broad range of disciplines
  • Excellent people skills and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated success managing, developing and retaining high performance staff, recognizing individual talents
  • Demonstrated success working with a broad range of constituencies in diverse technical and non-technical environments

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working experience supporting research computing or in-depth experience in a specific research discipline.
  • Technically curious and self-motivated.
  • Experience managing and leading staff and engagements in a hybrid/virtual setting.
  • Experience with grant submissions to academic research funding organizations such as NSF, NIH, NASA, DOE, MacArthur Foundation, Mellon Foundation
  • Experience in budget development
  • Experience evaluating new and emerging technologies and their potential applications in research computing.
  • Experience supporting technology in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working with regulatory regimes such as FISMA, HIPAA, and ITAR
  • Experience with automation of electronic scientific workflows
  • Experience developing and communicating complex technical solutions.
