Senior Systems Administrator - Managed Application Services
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of education and related experience in technical support may also serve to meet these minimum requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical staff
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
- Experience (typically 4-6 years) supporting and managing multiple systems and applications
- Experience working with Windows Server supporting server-based applications
- Experience with troubleshooting and resolving technical problems using diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems
- Experience with IT security hardening techniques
- Experience with automation and/or programming in any modern language.
- Understanding of cloud computing concepts
- Knowledge of version control technologies (such as git).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, show initiative, and provide technical leadership in managing complex systems.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with virtualization (Citrix, Remote Desktop Services (RDS), VMware, etc.)
- Strong experience with scripting for desired state configuration, particularly using PowerShell and/or Puppet.
- Knowledge of configuration management technologies (such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible)
- Experience with modern web server technologies (such as IIS, Apache, Tomcat, etc.)
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux
- Experience with database server concepts or administration (such as Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, Postgres, Mongo, etc.)
- Experience supporting technology in a higher education setting.
